This is my first ever blog, and not just on WordPress! It took me quite a while to figure out how to put my picture of the book in here, but I managed it (eventually)! I love reading Jacqueline Wilson and I found out about her books from when I fond some of my sister’s old books in my shelf. I started off reading the ‘Girls’ series that is about three girls called Ellie, Madga and Nadine. I have read each of the books from this series over and over, I just can’t get enough of them! OK, best be getting back to Best Friends!
Best Friends by Jacqueline Wilson
It is hard when your friend knows a secret that you don’t know, isn’t it? Gemma and Alice have been friends for as long as they can remember. They were born on the same day (but Gemma was born first), in the same hospital, and they were even tucked up next to each other in teeny weeny little baby cots! Alice is a very girly girl but Gemma is a tomboy who isn’t afraid of being dared.Even though they are the complete opposite, they are still the best of friends. Gemma had to get her hair cut short because of when she was blowing a massive bubble gum bubble and it popped in her hair, so she had to get it cut short to get rid of the sticky pink gum. Alice always stays neat and perfect whereas Gemma is always scruffy and messy. When Alice came over to Gemma’s house for a sleepover, she is very quiet and secretive. Gemma knows that there is something on her mind that she is worrying about but she doesn’t know how to say it. When they both go to Gemma’s room, Gemma nudges Alice with her foot and she spills gloopy, shiny pink nail polish all up her spotted pyjama sleeve, and knocks the popcorn bowl over too! Alice rushes off to the bathroom to get cleaned up when Gemma spots that the popcorn has gone inside Alice’s diary. She shakes it out when she finds Alice has written that there WAS a secret she was keeping from Gemma! It says;
I don’t know what to do. I feel so awful. I can’t tell Gemma. I simply can’t. It has to stay a SECRET. Yet it’s so hard to act like normal, as if we’re going to carry on the same old way, like Gemma wished, best friends forever.
I unfortunately cannot tell you any more about this book because then I would spoil the WHOLE story for you! And you wouldn’t want that, would you? All I can say is there is a brat called Flora involved, a certain chocolate sponge cake, Gemma’s granddad, a tubby boy called biscuits and a shiny black wig involved.
OVERALL I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO SOMEONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR AN EASY BUT INTERESTING READ!!!!!
