Diary Of A Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney
At primary school everyone seemed to be going mad over the ‘ DIARY OF A WIMPY KID’ series of books. I decided to give them a go as I like to read funny stories about people. As soon as I read the first page I knew that it was the right book for me! The whole book is filled with interesting little cartoons retelling parts of a boy’s life. The boy’s name is Greg, Greg Heffley.
Greg isn’t a superhero, nor popular, funny or even a bit interesting. Greg is plain boring, well at least this is what his friends think of him, no, not friends, classmates, wait…no, no, no! I should say his fellow students. That’s the thing you see, Greg is so very dull and simple which means that he doesn’t have many friends, all exept a certain boy called Rowley. Rowley Jefferson is just like Grey, still uninteresting and not very funny, but he is juat a bit more enthusiastic about life than Greg.
When Greg’s mum says that she is going to get a diary especially for Greg, he specifically asks her to NOT get one that says ‘DIARY’ on the front. Sure enough, she did. Greg was just hoping that no one would catch him with it and get the wrong idea. Greg doesn’t write down any of his feelings in his journal, he simply retells his day, talks about how much he doesn’t like his two brothers, Manny and Rodrick and about Rowley being stupid and childish.
Let me get something straight: this is a JOURNAL, not a diary. This was mom’s idea, not mine. But if she thinks I’m going to write down my ”feelings” in here or whatever, she’s crazy.
The only reason I agreed to do this at all is because I figure later on when I’m rich and famous, this book is gonna come in handy.
Today is the first day of school, so I figured I might as well write in this book to pass the time.
Just don’t expect me to be all ”Dear Diary” this and ”Dear Diary” that.
I would rate this book ***** because it is easy to read and the illustrations help you to understand the story better.
